About
“For a well-considered visual environment.” A little background information on The Aesthetic Elevator:
Paul Nielsen accidentally founded this explorative blog late in 2005, incidentally posting to it for the first time in early 2006. Writing is a way for him, as well as the other contributors to this website, to work through thoughts and ideas about art, architecture and community planning. Doing so in the form of a blog encourages broader conversation which may help clarify these ideas, these brainstorms, these random theories.
Our visual environment needs a lot of help a lot of the time. Much of it is less than inspiring and in fact egregious. The hope is that the ideas in these articles will inspire readers to “see better” — in the words of Canadian artist Betty Spackman — as the four of us put our thoughts and theories in writing on this blog. “For a well-considered visual environment.”
