The church and artists: A roundtable discussion

Jon McIntosh of Rethink Mission posted commentary from a roundtable discussion a few months ago (which I just came across today thanks to Melynda’s Passion). Four people representing four churches-slash-galleries answer four questions over the course of two entries, parts one and two.

The participants talk about their respective organization’s mission and strategy. The ideas vary somewhat in relationship to their different contexts. It’s a good read for anyone involved in the arts and the church.

Paul Nielsen founded The Aesthetic Elevator late in 2005, posting to it for the first time in early 2006. He owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall) stating that he earned a B.F.A. in studio art from the University of Nebraska around about 2001. While there, he studied studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art.
