Art gallery downtown, bank declines bailout money

A little news from our cute little community of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Unfortunately, this first bit is just a teaser. The gallery referred to in the title, Local Flair, isn’t open yet. But, the space it’s going to be in is basically done being remodeled (about eight month later than first predicted). The gallery will, I believe be on the left (south) side of the building, a boutique on the right. A health company will be in the back of the main floor, and four lofts are basically finished on the second floor — designed by The Aesthetic Elevator’s own Matt Pearson.
In other local news, Arvest — a bank with branches mainly in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma — declined any federal bailout money for the mortgage mess. “We’re fine,” said a bank rep in yesterday’s Herald Leader. This is the bank we have our mortgage with.
Of course, I expected nothing less. They back their own mortgages, they told us when we signed on, and were very professional. I’m glad that my bank won’t be one to incur an increase in my federal taxes too.
Thanks for the plug Paul. I’ll take credit for the overall building planning. The detail was undertaken by the builder. Not to bad for a contextual response on a budget. I trust it will contribute to what seems to be a healthy resurgence of the downtown area.
I thought design might be a bit of a strong word, but went with it anyway. I’ll reiterate though that the first time I walked through the apartments upstairs I figured your hand was in them, though I’d heard nothing of the sort prior to my self-guided tour. I actually haven’t seen any of the details anyway; only walls were up when I was there two months ago or so.
