Christians and Kitsch blurb, page 284

At this point I’m just paging through Betty Spackman’s A Profound Weakness: Christians and kitsch. I did read something this morning, however, I thought worthy of reposting here:
“I once suggested in a panel discussion at a conference on art and Christianity that we don’t always need to label our art. I said that a flower in the forest is still glorifying to its Creator even without a label on it that says “God made me.’ I was accused by someone afterwards of being a pantheist and an atheist for saying that. If we really believe that labeling is the only thing required to identify what is sacred and what is profane, or to identify ourselves as Christians in this world, then perhaps we should all be getting tattoos.”
