Local CIVA groups, finally

I recieved a piece of mail from CIVA today, something they referred to as “a sort of State of the Union of CIVA.” The brochure talks about the newly outlined Strategic Plan. The plan isn’t laid out in entirety, but one of the points they do elaborate on says this:

    2. Initiate and support CIVA Affiliate groups at the local level.
    * Launch groups in three locations that would serve as prototypes

I have hoped for this since learning and becoming a member of the group — though my membership lapsed with my student ID some years ago. It seems to me that the real strength of this movement/organization lies in the establishment of such local nodes. Let’s hope they are able to implement it quickly.

About pcNielsen
Paul Nielsen founded The Aesthetic Elevator late in 2005. He owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall), stating that he earned a B.F.A. from the University of Nebraska around about 2001. While there, he studied studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art. Paul presently serves as communications manager for a small non-profit doing their print design and marketing. He spends as much time sculpting in his studio as possible — which is not nearly enough.
