MFA Show in Second Life

Nosing around Flickr (waiting for our office printer to go live again) I stumbled across Metaverse Gallery inside Second Life.

I have messed around with Second Life on a very limited basis, but I gave up after it seemed as though my video card was direly insufficient — and realizing I just don’t have the time to mess around with it. Nonetheless I am utterly fascinated by the success and phenomenal growth rate of this virtual world. The things people are doing there electronically are at the same time ingenious and, well, goofy.

The MFA show was the work of Kyle Kondas. Terry’s caption for the above screenshot reads “Probably the first MFA show held in Second Life. Kyle is an Arts & Technology student at the University of Texas at Dallas.”

I’m quite tempted to reload Second Life and go to Kondas’ show. But I probably won’t.

About pcNielsen
Paul Nielsen founded The Aesthetic Elevator late in 2005. He owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall), stating that he earned a B.F.A. from the University of Nebraska around about 2001. While there, he studied studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art. Paul presently serves as communications manager for a small non-profit doing their print design and marketing. He spends as much time sculpting in his studio as possible — which is not nearly enough.
